The personal finance site also found that Fremont residents have the highest rate of life satisfaction, the fifth-lowest depression rate, fourth-highest average life expectancy in the country, the lowest separation and divorce rate in the country (8.9%), the lowest share of adults who report having 14 to more mentally unhealthy days per month, and it ranks sixth among the most caring cities<\/a> in America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fremont wasn\u2019t the only city in the West that topped the list. San Jose, California, ranked number two\u2014a big part of that is due to its having the longest average life expectancy<\/a> in the country. Additionally, it has the fourth-lowest separation and divorce rate, one of the best scores on Sharecare\u2019s Community Well-Being Index, a high score on Sharecare\u2019s Life-Satisfaction Index, and the third-highest share of households with an annual income over $75,000 (72%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third on the list was Irvine, California, mostly because its residents are healthy\u2014more than 88% of adults in the city report having good or better health, which is the third-highest percentage in the country. Its residents are very active, with 84% participating in physical activities<\/a>. Plus, the city has the seventh-highest life expectancy for residents, the third-lowest percentage of adults who report having 14 or more mentally unhealthy days per month, the eighth-lowest depression rate, and the third-lowest separation and divorce rate. On top of that, its residents are doing well financially\u2014nearly 68% of households make over $75,000 per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I grew up about 20 minutes away from Disneyland<\/a>, and spent the majority of my childhood in Disney princess dresses. So, it was a full-circle moment when my husband and I took our 11-month-old son to the Happiest Place on Earth<\/a>. And while some warned that he might not fully appreciate it, the joyous screams and smiles were enough proof that this was maybe his most favorite day yet. (The next day, I asked if he wanted to go back on the flying elephants\u2014aka the Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride\u2014and he signed \u201cMore.\u201d)\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I learned quite a few tips and tricks from experienced Disney parents beforehand, and took my own notes during our visit. Below, my top recommendations for doing Disney with a baby in tow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Check the Infant-Safe Rides Ahead of Time<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The Disneyland website and app have filters you can toggle to see which rides are appropriate for kiddos. My husband looked up the list before we got there, which made it easier to pick and choose which ones we wanted to go on. The \u201cAny Height\u201d option will show you everything that\u2019s okay for your baby, and we were surprised to see that there are 64 total attractions. My family\u2019s itinerary included the Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Storybook Land Canal Boats, and the aforementioned Dumbo ride. Our son loved it all, and was surprisingly unfazed by the two semi-significant drops on Pirates!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Because we were only there for the afternoon and evening, we didn\u2019t have time to wait in some of the longer lines, like Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and Peter Pan\u2019s Flight, and sadly, the classic It\u2019s a Small World<\/a> was closed for refurbishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2. Monitor the App for Wait Times<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Babies aren\u2019t the most patient when it comes to extra-long lines (and who can blame them?), but you can mitigate that by checking the app for the shortest wait times. These are frequently updated, so you can monitor your favorite rides and hop on during a lower-traffic moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    3. Pack Snacks, Water, and Extra Clothes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    You can never go wrong with packing more than you need, and Disney allows you to bring outside food and beverages (so long as they\u2019re nonalcoholic and not in glass containers), which is a budget-friendly advantage. My son has started solids, but he\u2019s not quite ready for the full kid\u2019s meals, so having his favorite snacks and sippy cup on-hand was particularly helpful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Fortunately, we didn\u2019t experience a blowout, but hey, accidents happen. We brought two extra outfits and a jacket, which we put on him when it got a little chilly toward the end of the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    4. Order Your Food Ahead of Time<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    I didn\u2019t do this, but I wish I had when we had to wait about 25 minutes to order our food from Alien Pizza Planet (which I knew as Redd Rockett's Pizza Port back in the day). On your app, simply place your order and walk over to the designated pick-up location. You\u2019ll notice most restaurants have a \u201cMobile Order Pick Up\u201d sign to help you navigate to the correct spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    5. Visit the Disneyland Baby Care Center<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    I\u2019m still nursing, and I really appreciated the convenience of the Disneyland Baby Care Center<\/a>. Located right off of Main Street, U.S.A. (turn right, and it\u2019s next to First Aid), you can sit in a comfortable chair to nurse, feed your baby in a highchair, or use their changing tables or toddler-size toilets. If you forgot anything, there\u2019s even a vending machine with essentials like formula, diapers, wipes, and more that you can purchase with a credit card.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Fair warning: The diaper changing line was pretty long, but if you don\u2019t want to wait, nearly all Disneyland restrooms have baby changing stations, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    6. Have Trust in the Stroller Parking Areas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    I don\u2019t know how we would\u2019ve done this day without our stroller, but I\u2019ll admit I was a bit apprehensive about leaving it in the stroller parking area before each ride. That said, there are Cast Members observing the area for parents\u2019 peace of mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If you\u2019re bringing a stroller from home, just make sure it falls under the requirements (31\" x 52\") and keep in mind that wagons are not permitted. Don\u2019t want to bring your stroller along? You can also rent one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    7. Watch the Fireworks Near City Hall<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    We were pushing it with our little one\u2019s bedtime, but we couldn\u2019t miss out on the fireworks. Thankfully, a friend recommended watching from the beginning of Main Street, U.S.A., which gave us the perfect view of the show and<\/em> easy access to the nearest exit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I reviewed some message boards and loved how one mom framed it: Keep expectations low! Babies thrive on routine, and a day at Disneyland is a major deviation from their typical schedule. My son was living his best life, but we were lucky that he didn\u2019t miss a nap that day. Plus, we were only there for the afternoon and evening (4 to 9:30 p.m.), and the abbreviated timeline was the perfect primer for future trips to D-land.     The first order of business as you\u2019re getting ready to go camping with a baby is to ensure your kid is healthy and not teething or going through a growth spurt. These things are hard enough to deal with at home. Once you\u2019re good to go, start out by mapping out every meal. Pack a baby first-aid kit with children\u2019s Tylenol and entertainment suited for your baby\u2019s age. It\u2019s also not a bad idea to do a practice run in your backyard so you and baby can get a feel for co-sleeping in a tent.<\/p>\n

    Pick the Right Campsite<\/h3>\n

    As your child gets older and you gain experience and confidence camping with a baby, you can venture farther out, but stick to campsites<\/a> relatively close to home (or at least close to a town) when you\u2019re getting started. Choose a campsite with amenities like maintained bathrooms so you can easily throw out dirty diapers and have access to running water. Go with a site that has plenty of shade and one that is far enough from other people, so your baby won\u2019t wake up everyone else if they\u2019re fussy in the middle of the night.<\/p>\n

    Even if it\u2019s just three of you, you\u2019ll want a tent<\/a> that will give you plenty of room to spread out and fit in all your baby essentials, plus some extras that can help everyone sleep better. Some parents opt for a portable crib to keep baby higher off the floor, while others might go with a more compact day bed. Whatever sleeper you decide on, try it out for a few months before the trip, so your baby is familiar with it. It\u2019s also a good idea to lay down a mat to insulate the tent.<\/p>\n

    Rock Diaper Changes<\/h3>\n

    It\u2019s pretty much business as usual if you camp close to a bathroom where you can dispose of dirty diapers. Keep track of how many diapers and wipes you go through in a normal day at home and pack accordingly (better yet, bring extras in case of accidents). Bring a fold-up changing pad so you have a clean surface to change baby when you go out on the trails. If there\u2019s no trashcan around, you have to follow Leave No Trace rules and carry waste with you. To dispose of the soiled items, put the diaper and wipes in a sandwich bag, stuff that into a bigger Ziplock, and put all of it into a bear box\u2014even if you\u2019re not in bear country. Cloth diapers are slightly trickier, but not impossible. A good middle-of-the-road option is to get reusable covers with compostable liners; wash and hang-dry the covers and bury the liners.<\/p>\n

    Be Flexible<\/h3>\n

    Maybe you\u2019re used to\u2014and much prefer\u2014roughing it in remote campsites far from civilization and amenities. But when you have a baby in tow, a kitted out campground or even a glamping<\/a> set-up might be your best bet. You don\u2019t have to go all five-star luxury. Plenty of campsites have bare-bones yurts and canvas tents that will equip you with the basics to make camping with a baby easier on everyone. Same goes for adjusting hikes (keep them relatively short and shady), connectivity (don\u2019t go off-the-grid), and even the length of the trip (prepare for the possibility that you may have to cut it short). On the day of the trip, hit the road right before or during nap time, so you don\u2019t arrive in a new environment with an exhausted baby.<\/p>\n

    Watch the Temps<\/h3>\n

    Temperature control is one of the most concerning factors for parents camping with a baby. Temperatures can plunge from hot to cold, and either extreme can be harmful to a baby. Just like with adults, the key is to layer properly. Brings pieces that go close to the skin, middle layers for warmth, and outer layers to protect from the elements. Bunting bags or fleece suits are great for sleeping through chilly nights, as are knitted hats and mittens. Look out for cool, clammy skin which could indicate your baby\u2019s temp is dipping. Overdressing can be a concern too, so plan to wake up throughout the night and check on your babe. For hot-weather camping, bring light-colored clothes, a portable fan, and tarp to cover the tent, which keeps it cooler. Co-sleeping is a good way to keep tabs on your little one\u2019s temperature throughout the night.<\/p>\n

    Gear Up<\/h3>\n

    Once you have all your adult-camping gear in check<\/a> (that headlamp will be super handy for nighttime diaper changes), add some specific baby essentials.
